Today PCSO Furmidge took part in a few of community-focused activities.
The day began with her attending Eckington Jnr school to talk about Hate crime; The children were excellent at listening and answered all her questions really well. Likewise, so were Marsh Lane Primary in the afternoon who received the same talk.
This is because this week is Hate crime awareness week for us. This is a great way to interact with the pupils, to teach them about various topics and to be more mindful when out in the community.
In between the walks she went to the park on stead street and spoke to some of the local residents that were up there with their children enjoying the facilities. This is an excellent way to engage with members of the community and foster stronger local relationships in a welcoming environment. Visits like these are key to building trust with local people and encouraging positive relationships between police and to see what people are thinking about in the area for the future. A productive day focused on strengthening community ties!
